About Us

The Greater Grand Junction Sports Commission was founded in 2015 through a unique partnership with Colorado Mesa University, the City of Grand Junction, City of Fruita, Town of Palisade, and Mesa County. Now a stand-alone nonprofit, 501c3 organization, the Sports Commission focuses on driving economic impact through sports tourism. In 2018, residents in the City of Grand Junction voted to approve an additional lodging tax that provides the Sports Commission annually via the City of Grand Junction. A total lodging tax of 6% is currently in place, with the Sports Commission receiving .75%, the Air Service Alliance receiving 1%, and Visit Grand Junction receiving 4.25% annually.

The Grand Junction Sports Commission works with a variety of events and sports at all levels, including youth, collegiate, amateur, and professional athletes. Our partners include the City of Grand Junction, City of Fruita, Town of Palisade, Mesa County, and Colorado Mesa University along with a long list of other private and public partners.

Our mission is to recruit, produce, and enhance events in Mesa County that increase the economic opportunities for our residents. The Sports Commission is a resource for our region and offers financial, operational, and marketing support for all sport-focused events and user groups.

Come experience our events as a participant, spectator, or volunteer! If you have any questions or recommendations for the Sports Commission, please contact us at info@grandjunctionsports.org or (970) 248-1378.
